OTIF (On Time In Full)
What is OTIF (On Time In Full)?
OTIF (On Time In Full) is a key supply chain and logistics performance indicator (KPI) used to measure how reliably a business fulfils customer orders.
An order is considered OTIF compliant only when it meets both of these conditions:
On Time: The order is delivered on the agreed delivery date and within the promised delivery window.
In Full: The customer receives the complete order, with the correct products, quantities, quality, and documentation—without shortages, substitutions, or missing items.
For example, if a customer orders 100 cartons for delivery on 15 July, but receives 95 cartons, or receives all 100 cartons on 16 July, the order has failed the OTIF measurement.
OTIF measures the performance of the entire supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation, and final delivery.
Why is OTIF Important?
A low OTIF score often indicates underlying operational issues such as poor demand forecasting, inventory shortages, supplier delays, warehouse picking errors, transport disruptions, or weak planning processes.
Improving OTIF helps businesses increase customer satisfaction, reduce delivery failures, improve operational efficiency, strengthen supplier performance, and build a more reliable supply chain.
Many organisations use OTIF as one of the most important KPIs for measuring logistics and supply chain performance because it reflects the customer’s actual delivery experience.
